Egerton CP School will strive to ensure that all pupils remain safe and free from harm and are committed to playing a full and active part in the Multi-Agency response to Child Protection concerns. It is recognised that Schools and Colleges and their staff are an important part of the wider safeguarding system for children. The purpose of this document is to ensure that all staff are aware of the arrangements that Egerton CP school have in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils. It provides guidance to help staff who may have concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, and sets out the school’s position in relation to all aspects of the Safeguarding and Child Protection processes.

The Governing body takes seriously its responsibility under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children; and to work together with other agencies to ensure adequate arrangements within our school to identify, assess, and support those children who are suffering harm.
We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the child’s welfare is our paramount concern. We understand that safeguarding incidents could happen anywhere and staff should be alert to possible concerns being raised in this school.
All staff believe that Egerton CP School should provide a caring, positive safe and stimulating environment that promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual child.
Policies are in place to ensure the safety of our children and are constantly updated in line with current legislation.
